Bisazza – Islamic Panorama
Islamic art is primarily inspired by religious sources, which is also reflected in decoration and civil architecture. It is known for being largely non-figurative. On one hand, it features elegant arabesque motifs and abstract multicolored decorations—both geometric and non-geometric; on the other hand, authentic Arabic calligraphy stands out through the use of Quranic verses in the architectural design of both interior and exterior walls, serving as symbolic, educational, and decorative elements. Here, the use of Bizazza glass mosaics is seen in service of Islamic art within modern designs. One may notice how these designs present architectural and decorative features with strong local significance, all while drawing on a shared and intuitive Islamic inspiration.
